Photography has always been a big part of Jennifer’s life. Music has even a larger part of who she is. Attending her first concert at 13 years old, she always wanted to capture the feel of a live performance. At 15 she was carrying her mother’s camera into concerts even thought they were considered contraband. For over 25 years, she has taken photographs to seize that one moment in time that cannot ever be duplicated.
Over the years, her photographs have featured various types of musical artists. Jennifer’s photos captured the events and personalities, and visualized the music. “I used to go and see the metal bands of the ‘80’s , Motley Crue, KISS, Ozzy, Poison, Def Leppard, and would sneak a camera in and shoot on a 110 camera. I started sending my photos into magazines such as Metal Edge. I had one photo published and that kept me going.” recalled Jennifer. Through the years, just as her music tastes changed so did her subjects. Most recently she has photographed country music artists such as Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band , Keith Urban and Blackberry Smoke.
She prefers to shoot in the crowd to get a perspective from the fan’s point of view. She has given her photos to her subject’s such as Zac Brown and Blackberry Smoke as gifts recently.
“I never really displayed my photos to the public till my son encouraged me. I thought of them as very personal memories for me. When I started to display them, I received feedback from other fans who appreciated me capturing the show.” says Jennifer. She most recently met Baron Wolman, Rolling Stone magazine’s first editor of photography. He encouraged her to keep taking photos and enjoy every moment of it.
